Law Enforcement Protocols
These protocols are for sworn law-enforcement officers, government agencies, and courts that need records from SRVED. Members with a product question should email hello@srvedlove.com or use Contact.
1. Where to send process
Email legal process to legal@srvedlove.com. Put the agency name, badge or case number, and the member identifier you have (email, display name, or user id) in the subject or first lines.
We do not accept legal process through social media, in-app chat, or a member’s personal inbox. We may refuse requests that are not sent to this channel or that we cannot authenticate.
2. What we require
For non-emergency requests we generally need valid legal process that is binding on us, such as:
- A subpoena for basic subscriber records
- A court order for certain stored content
- A search warrant for the contents of communications
US requests should comply with the Stored Communications Act (18 U.S.C. §§ 2701–2713) and any other law that applies. We may object to process that is overbroad, unsigned, or served on the wrong entity.
3. Emergency disclosure
If there is an immediate danger of death or serious physical injury, send an emergency request to legal@srvedlove.com with EMERGENCY in the subject. Include the facts that show why delay would create that harm, the records you need, and how we can reach the requesting officer.
We may disclose information in good faith to prevent that harm, including without prior legal process, as the law allows. We do not treat a general investigation as an emergency.
4. Preservation
We will make a reasonable effort to preserve existing account records for 90 days after a signed preservation request, and may extend that once if you send a follow-up before the hold expires. Preservation is not a substitute for a subpoena, order, or warrant.
5. Notice to members
We may notify the member that we received legal process targeting their account, unless the process legally forbids notice, notice would create a risk of death or serious injury, or we reasonably believe notice would destroy evidence or interfere with an emergency. Do not assume we will stay silent unless your process says so.
6. What we typically hold
Depending on the account, we may have email, hashed credentials, profile fields, coarsened location, work-schedule blocks, shots, Roster messages, reports, and payment entitlements. We do not store full card numbers. Stripe, Apple, or Google hold the payment instrument.
7. Cost reimbursement
We may seek reimbursement for the reasonable cost of producing records, as the law allows. Emergency requests about imminent physical harm are not delayed for a fee discussion.
